Felt Factory Wedding

By | Weddings | No Comments

Since Meghan and Ron first met at a Halloween party it only made sense that their wedding reflected every bit of that night! Their Felt Factory wedding was the perfect Halloween bash! We started the day with Meghan and her girls getting ready at the Hilton Penn’s Landing before heading to her’s and Ron’s home. They have the most amazing backyard which is where the first look took place! Seriously, their backyard is now my inspiration and I sense some landscaping in my future! The weather didn’t completely cooperate so we stayed local for their photos and used some of the cool textured walls in their own neighborhood as the backdrop for our little portrait session. After photos were done we left for the Felt Factory for the ceremony and reception! I knew Meghan and Ron told guests to wear costumes but I never expected how high the participation level would be! Guests really showed up in a huge way for the bride and groom and did not disappoint. Meghan and Ron’s wedding is the perfect inspiration for anyone planning a Halloween wedding. Not only was the decor on point but everyone was so excited to celebrate the newlyweds. Congratulations Meghan and Ron and thank you for having me as a part of your day!

Corinthian Yacht Club Wedding

By | Weddings | No Comments

Mark and Melissa claim to be awkward in front of the camera but I think that after photographing their engagement session, and now after photographing their Corinthian Yacht Club wedding, they’re pros! I couldn’t ask for a better couple to photograph and for a better wedding day. Mark and Melissa were so chill on their day and really enjoyed celebrating with their friends and family. We never had to leave Corinthian Yacht Club which made the flow of the day completely stress-free. The grounds were beautiful to photograph as well!  As usual I have trouble selecting a small group of photos to share so there are almost 100 in this post – enjoy!!

Reading Terminal Market Wedding

By | Weddings | No Comments

I have a serious problem where I am completely unable to bring down the photo count on my blog posts! Maybe I overshare but I just love the details that my brides choose as well as so many moments throughout their day. And when their friends and family make you feel like you’ve known them for ages, it’s difficult to not share! Allison and Eamon’s Reading Terminal Market wedding was perfection! I knew from the first time we met for their engagement session that this wedding was going to be fun! I’m pretty sure I even said that to the staff at All About Events when we were speaking about when we would work together again. Allison & Eamon are kind, relaxed, classy, fun, quirky, and make you feel so comfortable to be around. I know it is usually my job to make my couples feel comfortable but these two just made me feel like we have known each other for ages.

The day started at the Loews hotel where the couple got ready and did their first look right on that beautiful staircase leading to the ballrooms. We walked to City Hall, Dilworth Park, and Pafa for their photos then very conveniently ended up practically on the doorstep of the Friends Center where their ceremony took place. The ceremony was thoughtful and touching and heartfelt with Allison’s sister as the officiant and their dog Reggie as the ring bearer. After they said I do everyone partied down at the Reading Terminal Market which, if you don’t know me very well, is my favorite place!! I have always loved the market because I love food but photographing weddings there just takes my obsession to a new level!

Enjoy the photo overload and congratulations to the newlyweds!

Long Beach Island Engagement Session

By | Engagements | No Comments

Stephanie and Kyle’s Long Beach Island engagement session was the perfect way to close out the summer! The Sunday evening drive to LBI was so enjoyable without the typical shore traffic. We started the session at Barnegat Light – Stephanie, Kyle, myself, their dog…and Stephanie’s parents! We took some hilarious photos with mom and dad that I won’t share here but I’m thinking that in the future, if more parents want to tag along to the engagement sessions, it might be awesome!

After we wrapped up at Barnegat Light we made our way to the beach in LBI to catch a gorgeous golden sunset along with a champagne toast! So there are a few things that define me as a person, one of them being how much I love the city and really don’t like nature and/or bugs. The second is that I have a major fear of balloons popping and opening champagne bottles. So when a couple brings bottles of champagne to their session and wants to pop them open in my general direction, I panic. I gave very strict rules to pop those bottles AWAY from my face and just prayed that I got the photos in focus as I cowardly made my body as small as possible so as to not get hit with multiple corks. And it all worked out perfectly.

Thank you Stephanie and Kyle for an awesome session, not hitting me with champagne corks, for running into the ocean, and for doing endless dress twirls. Also, thank you to Mr. and Mrs. S for being good sports 😉

Desmond Hotel Wedding

By | Weddings | No Comments

Down-to-Earth, kind, and easy-going are just some of the words I would use to describe Abby and Zach. I loved them from our first meeting when they were still planning their Desmond Hotel wedding. We grabbed coffee at an adorable little shop in Philly and then met again for their engagement photos on a chilly day in the city. I stalked their instagrams and love seeing the awesome things they are up to and how much fun they have living their lives together. When their wedding day finally arrived I just couldn’t wait to celebrate with them and document each moment! The Desmond Hotel was perfect for their classic and romantic wedding vibe and was even close to a few fantastic locations for photos. I may have added too many photos from their day to this blog post but it was difficult to narrow them down. Abby’s gown was just beautiful, the details were clean and flawless, and you can’t ignore the huge smiles on everyone’s faces all day. Friends and family were more than excited to celebrate alongside Abby and Zach, as were all of the vendors! Congratulations to the newlyweds and best wishes on a wonderful and happy marriage!

Colonial Dames Wedding

True love isn’t found – it’s built.

I love this quote because like so many couples that meet online, so did Elizabeth and David! Although they set out specifically to find each other, that does not automatically create a relationship. They are building their relationship and their love story day by day. Working with them over these past few months has been a joy. They are a lovely and kind couple that are both so devoted to each other.Their Colonial Dames wedding may have been hectic at times but it was full of sweet moments! Thank you for having me photograph your day – it was an honor and I wish you both all of the happiness in the world!

Cape May Engagement Session

By | Engagements | No Comments

Suzanne and Michael had the most beautiful Cape May engagement session just a few weeks ago when summer seemed like it would just continue on, blissfully, forever. It was a big weekend – my 35th (ahh!) birthday, my 12th wedding anniversary, and Suzanne and Michael’s engagement photos. All of that summed up the perfect reason to spend a late summer weekend at the beach. The weather turned out to be just perfect – not too warm, not too cold, and a beautiful glowing sunset to end our session.

The happy couple got engaged just two months prior and knew they wanted a Cape May engagement session since that is where Michael proposed! They acted quickly in booking me and I’m so glad I had the availability! We had a great time wandering Washington Street then strolling through the sand after a quick outfit change. Also…slow clap for Suzanne being able to change from jeans and a top into a gorgeous dress all while inside of their car!

This session was the perfect way to end the summer season and bring on the fall craziness. I only wish that I had done more beach sessions this summer because nothing compares to those amazing sunsets and the way the saltwater makes you feel free and relaxed.

Reading Terminal Wedding

By | Weddings | No Comments

You wouldn’t think that a shorter wedding day would result in so many photos but when you have a couple that is just happy to be together, to be with their friends and family, and happy to enjoy their lives, you can’t help but over-photograph things! Lauren & Jeff’s Reading Terminal wedding didn’t exactly go off without a hitch but they were always positive, pleasant, and kind! Even after a mishap on my end (reserved tickets for the Magic Gardens on the wrong day!) they were ready to go with the flow and move on to Plan B, which ended up working out better than our intial plan would have anyway! No wonder their family and friends love them so much.

The day started with Lauren getting ready with her mom in the couple’s apartment in Philly. From there we went to the first look location at the Magic Gardens where unfortunately, Jeff couldn’t get in because I reserved tickets from the wrong day ::insert facepalm here::. Instead, Lauren and Jeff did their first look right out front where we could still take photos in front of the murals. We also were lucky enough to be able to use other murals in the area. Then we moved to beers at Dirty Frank’s which was one of their first date locations! After that trip down memory lane we walked to Broad Street for the iconic shot in front of city hall where we were joined by an elderly gentleman. As I stood back and took pictures, I imagined he was giving them excellent marriage advice but apparently I think he was trying to sell something to them!

Shortly after photos at City Hall we met up with family and did portraits. Then it was off to the ceremony and receptions at Reading Terminal Market! The ceremony was officiated by one close friend and another sang a beautiful solo. The couple toasted with coors light in remembrance of Lauren’s dad and gave a beautiful speech thanking everyone, and reminiscing about the first time they met. Then everyone just danced the night away! It was an honor to be a part of this wedding and a true honor to know Lauren and Jeff! Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Weddings these days

By | Weddings | No Comments

A good marriage isn’t something you find, it’s something you make, and you have to keep on making it.

Can we all just take a minute to appreciate the good in the world? People are vowing to love each other and stay together through it all, every single day. What I love about weddings is that couples can have a completely traditional and beautiful ceremony or they can do anything they want and at the end of the day all that matters is that two people decided to make it official and promise to be there through everything. This post is here just to appreciate all of the different ceremonies I have had the honor of photographing. Some were religious and held in churches, others were still religious and held at their venues. Others were officiated by friends, and one in particular had no officiant at all! What is amazing is that couples are identifying what works for the two of them and running with it.

I remember my mom telling me about her wedding day and saying that my grandmom judged her flower choice because she chose to have some pale pink flowers blooms in her bouquet, going against the traditional all-white floral standard. My mom and dad celebrated 50 years of marriage this past year so yes, this was a long time ago, but just think of all of the choices couples can have now! I know it can be overwhelming but it’s kind of amazing at the same time. No two weddings are the same just like no two couples are the same. And you get to celebrate exactly how you want! Don’t apologize for having a small wedding, or a huge wedding, or being a little “extra”. You do you and go enjoy the shit out of it!

Cherry Street Pier Engagement Session

By | Engagements | No Comments

I met Allison & Eamon at their apartment in Old City to start their engagement session before heading down to Cherry Street Pier for some spontanteous photos and ice cream. Our initial walk around Old City led us through this gorgeous golden light on our way to Allison’s favorite tree. After a quick outfit change and dropping the pup off back at home, we made our way to Cherry Street Pier. This was my first time at the new venue and I immediately fell in love! Not only is the space the perfect balance of industrial design, art, and color, but the happy couple bought me ice cream, which is a win in my book! I can’t wait to see Allison and Eamon again for their September wedding at another one of my favorite locations  – the Reading Terminal Market! Until then, enjoy these warm and romantic engagement photos from their spring time session.
