NEW YORK CITY ENGAGEMENT SESSION

By | Engagements | No Comments

This New York City engagement session topped off one crazy “vacation” week for me. I use the term vacation loosely because while I took off from my day job (did you all know I have a day job? I do and it’s pretty cool but very different from photography), I had a full week of shoots and vacation-esque activities planned.

Day one of my vacation involved heading to the Big Apple for this lovely engagement session! Now if you haven’t caught on yet, I am obsessed with big cities. I love the architecture and that amazing feeling when you really think about how people, like you and me, built something so incredible. When Carrie asked if I would go to New York to photograph their engagement session there was no doubt in my mind that I would do it.

Carrie & Pat are seriously an amazing couple. Smart, down-to-earth, and all-around awesome people. The day of their session was HOT and muggy and just plain gross. Can you tell? Nope! They were awesome to work with and didn’t complain once about the heat and instead made jokes about it!

We started here at the Highlines Park. The elevated railway was a bit more narrow than I imagined but we were able to make some cool photos along the side stairwells and also when the crowds thinned out for a few seconds.

After leaving the Highlines we walked to La Colombe for a pick-me-up and outfit change!

This area used to be a train station in the meatpacking district but has been renovated to include La Colombe and some other shops. It is closed on the weekends so we were able to take advantage of the free space and air conditioning!

Since I had to head back to my bus by a certain time in order to make it home, we decided to continue our walk, mimicking one of the walks Pat & Carrie would take around their neighborhood together. We considered walking along the Hudson River but the sun was still pretty high and I wasn’t confident we would get great photos there. We tried to stop into the Javits Center but were quickly told that we couldn’t take photos there. Luckily just around the corner was this cute little park which barely had any crowds!

It also had a great view! Although when you’re in New York, are you ever without an amazing view?

I also want to note that I didn’t pose them like this, they just sat down and I told them to get comfortable – how adorable are they??

And finishing the session with one last city backdrop…

Carrie and Patrick are getting married in March 2019 at Hotel Du Village in Pennsylvania. I can’t want to see what their wedding day has in store!

And while I’m not going to share posts from my “vacation” which included a short trip to Longport, NJ for some relaxation on the beach, and a slightly longer trip to North Carolina to visit my in-laws, I will eventually be sharing one epic styled shoot at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts!

LIFESTYLE FAMILY PHOTO SESSION

By | Family | No Comments

I can’t say enough amazing things about this family! First of all, they have been with me since the beginning.  I have had the pleasure of watching their family grow from our first session in their Philadelphia apartment, where I mistakenly arrived at the Drexel University dorms instead of their actual apartment! Now here we are, photographing their second daughter’s first birthday. Seriously, where does the time go?

This lifestyle family photo session took place in my Riverton, NJ studio on a hot summer day. They all looked perfect in their whites and pinks! Everyone knows I’m in love with clean and simple!

While big sister was warming up to the idea of photos (even though I swear we were best friends at their last session) we took photos of the birthday girl! She did not disappoint and gave me the cutest little expressions.

We added mom in for a few photos as well…

And we can’t forget dad!

Still working on warming up for photos so in the meantime, we had some nice family snuggle time.

And then dad steps in to save the day!

I love getting to see this awesome family every year and sometimes, multiple times a year! Even when we think a session will go badly, it really just ends up being the perfect opportunity for family snuggles!

WILDWOOD ENGAGEMENT SESSION

By | Engagements | No Comments

Meeting new couples is an awesome perk of the job, but it’s  even cooler when an old high school friend reaches out with the great news that he is engaged! Ted and I were friends in high school and lost touch over the years like so many people do. I was thrilled when he wanted  to book me for his engagement session and I was so excited to meet the soon-to-be Mrs! Their Wildwood engagement session was rescheduled originally because we thought the weather looked bad one Saturday back in May. Of course, it turned out to be beautiful. We planned on another Saturday in June and the weather was perfect!

We started their session at the now closed 2nd Street Annie’s where Ted and Vicki first met. The sun was high in the sky but gave the dramatic look I was hoping for.

After 2nd Street Annie’s walked to the boardwalk and headed for the carousel for a few fun photos! The sun flare and the colors made this part of the day awesome! It was not awesome when I was told I could not stand on the outside during the carousel ride, which ruined the perspective I had planned! But it all worked out anyway…

When we were done at the boardwalk we took  a short drive to the beach! I was very impressed with Vicki’s skills at getting changed in the car while driving! The beach was absolutely perfect and has me rethinking my love for Philadelphia and architecture! The water, sand, and sunlight were to die for.

Next stop – light house! How gorgeous are these gardens?

And last but not least we stopped along the water near Ted’s family’s home to close out the night where we even got the dog into a few photos!

Congratulations Ted and Vicki and thank you so much for having me create these photos for you!
