I’m not sure what surprises me more – the fact that I haven’t blogged since the summer, or the fact this Ashley and Jeff’s Cafe Madison wedding was only the second full wedding I photographed in 2020. And it happened in August. This year has obviously been different for everyone and not one that any of us could have planned for. If anyone told me that after hitting my 2020 goal for weddings, that 90% of them would reschedule for next year, I would have said you were crazy. Yet here we are. I have only photographed 4 weddings that were actually meant to happen this year. Don’t get me wrong – I have been busy. I have had the pleasure of photographing a lot of minimonies and microweddings in backyards, beaches, and driveways. I even get to photograph those couples again next year for their full weddings! I am thrilled that Ashley and Jeff tied the knot this year, but I’m also a bit sad, because they are one of the few couples that I won’t be seeing again in 2021.
You might remember Ashley and Jeff from their NYC engagement session that we photographed in December 2019. It was a different world then as we wandered through Central Park, never even thinking that less than a year later everyone here would be wearing masks. Despite the crazy times we are living through, the newlyweds were able to hold their dream wedding this past August. Cafe Madison went above and beyond for Ashley, Jeff, and all of their couples. They set up a massive tent in their parking lot with fans and plenty of airflow. The tent and table setups were gorgeous and had the perfect string lighting accenting the high ceilings. I love seeing how resilient people and businesses are, and how so many people are making things work no matter what.
I loved working with this gorgeous couple and wish them both the happiest lives together, along with their dogs! Congratulations Ashley and Jeff!
