A good marriage isn’t something you find, it’s something you make, and you have to keep on making it.
Can we all just take a minute to appreciate the good in the world? People are vowing to love each other and stay together through it all, every single day. What I love about weddings is that couples can have a completely traditional and beautiful ceremony or they can do anything they want and at the end of the day all that matters is that two people decided to make it official and promise to be there through everything. This post is here just to appreciate all of the different ceremonies I have had the honor of photographing. Some were religious and held in churches, others were still religious and held at their venues. Others were officiated by friends, and one in particular had no officiant at all! What is amazing is that couples are identifying what works for the two of them and running with it.
I remember my mom telling me about her wedding day and saying that my grandmom judged her flower choice because she chose to have some pale pink flowers blooms in her bouquet, going against the traditional all-white floral standard. My mom and dad celebrated 50 years of marriage this past year so yes, this was a long time ago, but just think of all of the choices couples can have now! I know it can be overwhelming but it’s kind of amazing at the same time. No two weddings are the same just like no two couples are the same. And you get to celebrate exactly how you want! Don’t apologize for having a small wedding, or a huge wedding, or being a little “extra”. You do you and go enjoy the shit out of it!
